How it works
- • Where we meet. In person at our Statham office (2064 Highway 82, Statham, GA 30666), by Zoom, or in groups. The office is by appointment only.
- • Who we serve. People across Barrow, Jackson, Gwinnett, Oconee, Walton, and Clarke counties, including Winder, Jefferson, Auburn, Athens, Bethlehem, Loganville, and Monroe.
- • Who is welcome. Everyone. Our work is faith-grounded, but we don't require any religious background, denomination, or church involvement.
- • How to begin. Send a short message or leave a voicemail at 770-807-1227. We'll respond within 24 hours and schedule a first session. The Counseling Intake Forms come after we've talked.
Made accessible, on purpose
What it costs
- A set fee per session — disclosed at scheduling, due at time of service. We don't accept insurance — here's why.
- A sliding scale — based on family size and income.
- The Counseling Scholarship Fund — donor-funded, for those who can't afford even the sliding-scale rate. Income verification (such as your most recent tax return) may be required.
- The Encounters in Grief group — always free.
We never want money to be the reason someone goes without help. If cost is hard, ask. Always.
Being honest about scope
What we are, and what we aren't.
Encounters in Joy is a 501(c)(3) ministry. Our counselors are board-certified Christian counselors, not state-licensed clinicians. We're not LPCs, LMFTs, or LCSWs — and we're transparent about that.
For medication, a formal diagnosis, severe psychiatric conditions, or court-ordered counseling, a licensed clinician is the right fit. Read when you should see a licensed clinician instead.
When you're ready
Not sure which fits? Start with a conversation.
Send a short message or leave a voicemail. A real person responds within 24 hours, and we'll figure out the next step together.
